JOHN D. TUDOR - OBITUARY
John Tudor, aged 67, passed away peacefully in Colchester, England on the 18th June 2010.
Funeral service to be held on Thursday 1st July 2010, at St Leonard’s Church, Lexden, followed by burial at Colchester Cemetery.
John was born in May 1943, in Doddinghurst, Essex and moved to Colchester in 1970 where he established Pro-Golf Worldwide, servicing the needs of the world’s greatest golf tournament professionals.
In the late 1970s and based on the European Golf Tour, John enjoyed huge success with tournament professionals, including Ken Brown, Eamon Darcy, Nick Faldo, Bernard Gallacher, Mark James, Bernard Langer, Sandy Lyle, Greg Norman, Des Smyth, Sam Torrance and many more.
A pioneer in the design and personal fitting of golf clubs, John opened one of the world’s first and most advanced computerized golf club analysis centres in Peartree Road, Colchester.
This business further developed by launching into the UK, what are now some of the largest golf companies in the world, including True Temper Shafts, Golf Pride Grips, Callaway Golf Clubs, Cleveland Golf Clubs, Sun Mountain Golf Bags, Odyssey Putters and many others.
In the mid 1990’s John chose San Diego, California (the world centre of golf) to further expand and established Savile Row Golf Inc to service the needs of the greatest names in golf
John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years Dianne, sons Jason and Sebastian and grandchildren Jenna, Abigail, Luke, Edward and Gregory.
